SECTION 1.
RECP
Res 12 AUG 10
No. 1.
Sir,
Foreign Office to India Office.
Foreign Office, July 22, 1910. I AM directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 8th instant, transmitting a copy of a despatch from the Government of India, with enclosures, relative to the Burmah-China frontier line.
Sir E. Grey has, in accordance with the desire of the Secretary of State for India, addressed the despatch, of which a copy is enclosed,* to His Majesty's chargé d'affaires at Peking with respect to the objections raised by the Chinese local authorities to the position of boundary cairns 9-14.
As regards the proposal of Mr. Consul Rose that he should endeavour to come to an agreement with the Prefect of Yung Chang with reference to the undemarcated sections of the frontier, Sir E. Grey concurs in the conclusion of the Government of India that no useful purpose would be served by a discussion of that matter at the present moment.
I am, &c.
F. A. CAMPBELL.
